Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the LabelCop app and website (the "Service"), operated by Khyati Amin, trading as "LabelCop". By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Licence to use
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.
2. Informational purpose only — not medical advice
LabelCop provides general information to help you understand food labels. It is not medical, nutritional, or dietary advice, and it is not a substitute for professional guidance. Scores and flags reflect our editorial scoring approach, not a diagnosis or a personalised recommendation. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional regarding allergies, medical conditions, or dietary decisions. Do not rely on LabelCop alone for decisions that affect your health, and always check the actual product packaging — especially for allergens.
3. Accuracy of information
LabelCop reads printed labels using automated text recognition and applies an automated scoring model. This process can contain errors: text may be misread, labels may be out of date, and our scoring reflects judgement calls about which ingredients and nutrients to penalise. We do not warrant that any score, ingredient analysis, or piece of information is complete, current, or accurate. The product's own packaging always takes precedence over anything shown in the app.
4. Acceptable use
- Do not misuse, reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to disrupt the Service.
- Do not use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in breach of these Terms.
5. Third-party products and brands
Product names and brands shown in the Service belong to their respective owners. Their appearance does not imply any affiliation with or endorsement by them, or by us. Our analysis is independent and is not influenced by any brand.
6. Intellectual property
The Service, including its scoring model, content, design, and branding, is owned by Khyati Amin, trading as "LabelCop" and protected by applicable laws. You may not copy or reuse it without our permission.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Khyati Amin, trading as "LabelCop" will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded by law.
9. Subscriptions and payment
LabelCop offers a limited number of free product scores. After these are used, further product scores require a paid subscription. If a label cannot be read or a product cannot be scored, it does not count against your free product scores.
Subscriptions are offered as an annual plan and a quarterly plan. Current prices are shown in the app and on the App Store listing for your territory.
Payment is charged to your Apple ID account on confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal in your Apple ID Account Settings at any time. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not end the current period, and no refund is given for the unused portion of a period that has already begun.
All purchases are made through Apple. Refunds are handled by Apple under its own terms, not by us. We cannot issue refunds directly. Requests go through Apple's support channels.
Features described as included in a subscription may change over time as the Service develops. Free product scores are per install and do not reset on reinstall.
10. Changes
We may update the Service or these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of that jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of any mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence, or of the right to bring proceedings there where local law gives you that right.
